Distrito de Panamá

El Distrito de Panamá es una de las divisiones que conforma la provincia homónima, situado en la República de Panamá. Con una extensión de 2,561 km². Es la estructura política y geográfica donde se encuentra la ciudad Capital, localizada en los 8°54' de latitud y los 79°19' de longitud. Está situado en la región oriental del país, al este del canal, frente a la bahía de Panamá. Tiene una altitud variable entre los 0 m s. n. m. frente a la bahía y más de 1,000 m s. n. m. en el cerro Jefe. La proyecciones para 2007 estiman la población del distrito en 1,184,140 habitantes, convirtiéndola en el más poblado del país.[2]

En ella de encuentra el centro político, económico, administrativo y cultural de la República, siendo sede central de casi todas las grandes empresas del país.
